Embers of Riyzon Fantasy Book Series – Xaneria Ann

Created six cohesive book cover illustrations for the Embers of Riyzon fantasy series by Xaneria Ann. Focused on consistent visual direction, color harmony, and symbolic composition across all titles, while exploring typography concepts to enhance the series’ identity.

Project Overview

I was commissioned by author Xaneria Ann to create a set of six cohesive book cover illustrations for the Embers of Riyzon fantasy series. The goal was to build a distinct visual identity that could evolve across multiple titles while maintaining thematic unity through color, framing, and light direction.

Each cover illustration was designed around a symbolic element central to its respective story — fire, earth, water, and other magical motifs — all bound by ornate, glowing frames to reflect the series’ mystical tone. I also explored various typographic treatments to complement the artwork and establish early direction for future branding use.

This project allowed me to blend narrative-driven illustration with compositional design thinking, ensuring the series communicated both individuality and cohesion within a fantasy publishing context.

Created six detailed digital paintings with thematic consistency across color, lighting, and framing — tailored to the lore of each novel.

Maintained a unifying palette and layout structure so that the covers visually connect as a collection while standing strong individually.

Experimented with custom title typography and text integration, ensuring legibility while enhancing fantasy ambience.

Focused on atmospheric light, material texture, and magical realism to heighten emotional impact and readability in digital and print formats.
